These original artworks are the beginning of a project to reimagine the Major Arcana cards of the Tarot. Tarot cards are the ancestors of regular playing cards. They are used to predict the future, in the strictest sense, by those who believe in such things. I find them a fascinating repository of wisdom and guidance that can be used to consider questions and problems and situations from angles not intuitive to the querent. It’s basically 20 years of therapy in pictorial symbolism.
The cards in the Major Arcana depict archetypes and are considered the most “powerful” in the deck in that they apply somewhat across the board vs. the more specific Minor Arcana Cards. I am using and expanding on the traditional imagery of the Major Arcana of the well-known and ubiquitous Rider-Waite deck. My own twist is going to be my addition of some imagery at the bottom of each card suggesting how the querent can approach receiving the card’s wisdom.
