MY FIRST BLUE RIBBON!

What a surprise to receive the juror’s first place award at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab’s 2025 Annual Art Show! Such a great event. I can’t believe my husband’s worked there all this time and this is the first time I participated or attended. Boy have I been missing out! All proceeds went to the Johns Hopkins Medical Center.

Melange II is coming…

Melange II is an opportunity at the Maryland Federation of Art’s Circle Gallery (Annapolis, MD, USA) for a member who had entered an artwork for an exhibition and volunteered a few hours and donated an artwork for their Collector’s Choice fundraiser to win, via lottery, a wall in the gallery for a couple of weeks. I got one! So I will have a wall with my name stenciled over it on which to put anything I want for a couple of weeks, along with a bunch of other artists taking up the rest of the gallery space. So now I am working like crazy to have everything ready. Installation is on Tuesday and the reception is o next Saturday )18 March, 2023)  Exhibition details, including the sales gallery are here. Come ou out for the reception, we’d love to see you!

SOLD—Herman’s New Gig 1/1

That’s my 3rd ever sale at the gallery. The story is that a guy came in and got the welcome spiel and came back to the desk before the employee even got to sit down (so like in 3 seconds, it’s a small gallery) saying, “I want this one,” and Herman was gone. And this was before the reception. Just a well-in. (!!!)

It didn’t hurt I’m sure having I made the exhibition title wall. First time for that too. Very exciting.

Stretching my own canvas

 40x60”

Turns out of you need to tighten up a wave in the canvas you just paint the back with water. Who knew?  I may have to redo the corners tho. I’d like them to be smother.

Char now on Exhibit

My family and I checked out the Maryland Federation of Art’s 2021 Eye Of The Beholder exhibit at the Circle Gallery (Annapolis, MD, USA) today. It was a treat to see my sculpture along with all of the other work in the show. I’m case you can’t make it, here are a few pics.

5/24/2021 TMS Rosary

I used these beads to count my way through the pulses during each TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimilation), a treatment for Depression. Once on an elastic string, I finished this necklace today, linking them with twisted sterling wire and made a new pair of matching earrings to go with them. So... not an artwork of an apple per se, but what I did today.

Char + apple

3D piece today. I made this to submit for the Maryland Federation of Art’s juried exhibition “Eye Of The Beholder,” which requires that artworks be made from found objects.

Char—Depression Warrior 15-year Campaign Diary

(Media: kindling + partially consumed birch branch, acrylic)

Each twig was selected and intentionally burned and painted before insertion into drilled birch branch, also painted to resemble still-burning embers. Each twig memorializes a particular year from 2005–2021.
