Commission progress…

I’ve continued to refine to digital painting for this project. I divided it into a grid and printed each piece. Then I laid them out on the floor with some tape measures to show the size the finished piece will be. I decided what I want to do is practice painting it full scale on paper next. I have a big roll of brown paper that I cut and will use. Had to overlap 2 pieces to get the right size. Now the question is how will I do this? On the floor? Maybe. I think on a table would have it too high for me to see what I was doing in the context of the entire painting. Hoping for a large easel for Xmas…

Goddamn Cheetah—in progress

No apple yet, but this is what I came up with for a recent art therapy assignment. I was to try to think of something/one that is doing what it's supposed to be doing (is making a valid choice, is not making a mistake) by not being urgent, by resting. Well, big cats spend most of their time resting. They expend energy in bursts to take down prey, but other than that, they sack-out most of the time. And that's what they're supposed to do. Thats them being what they are. Being that way is valid. So I was to do an image about that. But did I make the image of a figure at rest? OF COURSE NOT! SMH.

So now my assignment is to show her at rest. What does it take for her to be at rest? Well, I can tell you right now she'll be up a tree.

2/26/21 Icon Accidental study continues…

Worked today on jewelry and the apple hand, mostly. Added more mottling to the skin. Made background fully black. Image has 3 days snapshots here together with today’s being the rightmost. Maybe 75% done?

02/23/21 Icon Accidental study—In Progress

Does this look familiar? I’m giving it another go.  I saw this photo of @iconaccidental (Instagram) back in the summer and thought, "I've SO got to turn that orange into an apple!" I did one stab at it back then and it was OK but I intend to keep doing them until I finally am able to do an analog painting (no "undo button") of this without gridding it out and absolutely copying the photo.

For this try, I'm still tracing the outlines of shapes and recoloring things myself, checking against the photo and correcting as I go. I'd say I'm maybe 50% done now. Definitely more to do with the hair, jewelry, skin texture, coloring, etc. Pretty much everything. Gah! People are worse than waves!

2/15/21 Flotsam—Reworking

You can’t tell, but I’ve spent a lot of time fussing with this and it’s now very much in progress and unfinished. Well, you can tell that last part.

1/28/2021 Woman—In Progress

So this painting seems to want to be one of a series. Not much progress today in terms of change to the main image. today’s work is behind the scenes, including time spent creating the other images, messing around in ProCreate, and experimenting with lightning and star sparkles. Here’s a detail:
