New Gallery! Gallery Underground (VA) acceptance

I am thrilled to have received an acceptance into Our American Soul, a juried exhibition by the Gallery Underground, an art gallery part of the Arlington Arts Alliance (VA), located in Crystal City (adjacent to Reagan National Airport). This is my first acceptance into a non-MD gallery that is not for virtual work. So, I will be schlepping my Mind The Glass mixed media artwork down to Arlington, probably using the Metro....

“Mind The Glass” goes to BWI!

My artwork, Mind The Glass, has been included in the Art Council of Anne Arundel County  in “Exhibit 34: Imagine…” which will be on display between concourses C & D (pre-security) from July 22–November 14 at BWI (Thurgood Marshall Baltimore Washington International Airport, Baltimore, MD, USA). This is my first non-gallery exhibition and speaking of imagination, I can’t imagine a setting where more people might see artwork in person over a period of time than a busy national airport. 🫢 Incredible. For a gallery of all the included work, see https://artscouncilofannearundelcountynew.submittable.com/gallery/7b48ccac-1cbe-49b9-95f2-e282feaaa11e

MFA Studio Tours - What I'm sending to Circle Gallery

It is so hard to decide what to send! Officially sending in my choices as submissions always stresses me out so. I want to choose ones that all have nothing to do each other if I were to choose my favorites and that doesn't work because, as I understand, it's desirable for any grouping of your work to seem cohesive. In any case, these 2 are what I will be delivering to the gallery:

Poms on the brain

2023 UPDATE:
I worked on these in the beginning of 2023, repainting a lot and adding even red nail polish in an attempted to get the deep jeweled saturated color I wanted. I titled them PomPom Studies 1 & 2. #2 was shown at MFA's Circle Gallery (Annapolis) as part of my wall in the 2023 Mélange exhibition, and #1 was accepted into MFA's 2023 Member show (also at Circle Gallery).

Playing with pomegranates

Playing catch-up here on the blog. How amazing that I posted every day for a year! As I start spending more time on my next commission, I am doodling pomegranates as they are meaningful to the client.

08-20-2020 Play deconstructed

This was really fun. I may do more of these. I cut pieces from original image (below, titled “Play” because I was playing around with the watercolor brushes and not working from life), and moved/resized them. Then I used the recolor feature and liked the addition of greens & yellows.

08–09-2020 My private island

This apple is part of Julia K Burzon’s “An Apple A Day” project and blog (Copyright 2020 all rights reserved). Follow her blog at appleaday4u.blogspot.com
Just for the record, coming home from vacation sucks.

And no, I didn’t mean to go all Georgia O’Keefe on you (tho that’s a direction that does interest me). I was trying to use the bottom of the Apple as an island. I am particularly pleased with the water in this one.
