09-17-2020 Fuji

Hi all.  Well, the video from yesterday went up on the site ok, but my email was blank when I got it. Bummer. I’m sorry if you thought there was no post yesterday. I’d figured if it was good online it’d be good in the email... and my emails don’t come until late evening, so I didn’t catch it. But it’s here on the site if you want to check!

09/17/2020 Heavypaint video

Figured out how to make this today. Thought you’d enjoy. I’m not sure it is going to post correctly tho, so if it doesn’t I’ll put something else up later in the day.

09-12-2020 I’m a goddamn cheetah

In case you’re wondering, the apple is in the lower left. The title references Glennon Doyle’s latest book: Untamed, which is drop-everything required reading as far as I’m concerned.

In other news, I’m up to 97 followers on Instagram, which is exciting as at 100 I get to have some metrics about them. Please feel free to comment on any image, should the mood strike you. I’d love to hear from you.

09-07-2020 square brush

Oops—this was supposed to be posted Wednesday instead of a 2-fer Tuesday, which means you saw this yesterday  Sorry about that. I’ve got no buffer now so I don’t have something else to post instead. Whatever I do today is what you’ll see tomorrow. I need to do several a day for a while to build my buffer back up so I can have free days when necessary.

Kid’s crayon drawing

Commission request: “Do an Apple drawing like you think a little kid would do it, like if a TV show needed a kid’s drawing they probably don’t have a kid really do it because you need it to look a certain way. Can you do one you think looks like a real kid drew it?” I don’t know. Here’s my shot.

07-17-2020 Wisdom of Eve

Time to start working from life, I think. These have all been out of my head. I’m going to have to do some still lifes to get them more realistic. I find that a bit too intimidating for some reason <shrug>, but anyway I’ll tag it as such if something is from life.

07-14-2020 Herman Goes Sailing

This apple is part of Julia K Burzon’s “An Apple A Day” project and blog (Copyright 2020 all rights reserved). Follow her blog at appleaday4u.blogspot.com

I realize the Apple part of this is a repeat, however it was bothering me that it was just sailing along empty. So I added a sailor using the “Furry” and “Dry pen” brushes. It was enough of an effort that I decided to post it plus I knew you’d want to meet him. I’m really proud of this one. My daughter has named him Herman. I am working on putting him on a bicycle next (apple wheels)....

07-13-2020 Summer Frock

This painting used the brush called “trails.” I’m not exactly clear on what type of paint it portrays. It seemed like a thin poster paint or well-linseeded oil...

There are no new ideas...

Hi all.
Thank you for tagging along with me in this project! I hope you have been enjoying my explorations so far. I’ve discovered that I can have the images shown larger here in each blog entry so I am making those changes + I am working on adding descriptions for when Google catches up with the blog and images are indexed as searchable (takes a few weeks).

Anyway, I was seeing if this blog might show up in Google, as one does (answer; not yet), and of course discovered other artists’ projects of the same title. So I thought I’d share some of them with you:

07-10-2020 Fun with the “alpha lock” feature...

This apple is part of Julia K Burzon’s “An Apple A Day” project and blog (Copyright 2020 all rights reserved). Follow her blog at appleaday4u.blogspot.com

This image was made using Art Set’s alpha lock, which allows the artist to apply one layer selectively to another, thus letting me basically paint one image onto another.

🍎 Hi there!  🍏

Thank you for checking out my art blog!

A few things first:

1- Please note that any picture can be seen enlarged by clicking on it.

2- To see more posts, click “Older Posts” at the bottom of the page.

3. On mobile devices, keywords, an index of all posts by month, and other features seem to be unavailable. Please choose "view web version" at the bottom of the page to more easily peruse past posts or to see posts by keyword.

What’s the deal with all the apples?

This project started as an exercise to learn and practice with all the functionality of the Art Set 4 app on my new iPad Pro. I had lusted after this particular piece of technology for some years and found myself, upon its arrival, simultaneously both extremely excited to finally have it in my hot little hands, and so intimidated by all the available art media and effects in Art Set that I was afraid to even try it. I was suffering from the proverbial artist’s “white page” paralysis. I just sat there with the iPad on my lap and Art Set open, the Apple Pencil in my hand...utterly stuck. My son said, “Just draw an apple.” OK, I knew I could do that. An apple was safe. So I did. The next day I did another, and the next day another.

With each new apple I am exploring both the the technology and myself within the safe boundary of “ just drawing an apple.” I share them with you here, in hope that the small consistency of a daily art apple will bring a thread of continuity through these strange times (and help keep the doctor away). Enjoy.

P.S. Intrigued? Here are some helpful links;

My Instagram account is the most current forum for my art, and includes everything I’m doing. It is up to date in real time, so a piece scheduled for posting here that was completed before the scheduled post date will be up on my Instagram account.

My FaceBook page for the most part mirrors my Instagram account, but not entirely.

My art shop,  FanFARE Themed Art, where you can purchase prints and original artworks is located on Ko-fi.com (see the upper right corner for a link to the shop). Please contact me directly if you have any questions about a purchase or commission and please feel free to support my chai latte habit, again, via the Ko-fi link in the upper right corner of the home page.

NON-APPLE ARTWORKS?

These pages show some of my non-apple artwork. Several original artworks are available for sale, some as limited edition giclee prints. Open-ended made-to-order prints are available for any image. Again<see my Ko-fi shop.
